Environmental Product Indicators
The Consumer Council has initiated and supervised several studies of the european consumer organisation ANEC (and chairs
its environment group) concerning environmental labelling of products. It has been shown that indicators based on the method
of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) — are not appropriate for declaring the environmental performance of products (many relevant environmental aspects are not adequately covered, subjective choices, no robust results). on this basis ANEC has expressed strong reservations regarding various versions of the so-called “footprint” (“carbon footprint” or “environmental footprint”).
