Study on tattoo inks and permanent make-ups

A study commissioned by the Consumer Council on tattoo inks and permanent make-ups was finalised in April 2018. It includes a proposal for regulatory rules for this product group and includes a critical review of the restriction proposal which was developed by the European Chemicals Agency ECHA in co-operation with some Member States. The study arrives at the conclusion that the draft legislation (Annex XVII of REACH) must be improved. Some thresholds are too high, for some other substances they are missing at all! The study constitutes an excellent basis for the elaboration of a position paper of the European consumer organisation ANEC.
