CEN Guide for chemicals in consumer-relevant articles

CEN has published a new Guide 16 entitled "Guide for addressing chemicals in standards for consumer-relevant products" including a related background document. It was prepared by a project team composed of representatives of standards bodies from several contries (AT, DK, ES) and the "European Environmental Citizens’ Organisation for Standardisation", ECOS (representation of environmental organisations in standardisation). The project was accompanied by a "Stakeholder Panel" and was funded by the European Commission. The Consumer Council had a leading role in the development of the Guide which is envisaged to assist Technical Committees when taking into account chemical aspects in the standardisation of consumer-relevant articles. A strategy paper for its implementation is supposed to be adopted subsequently. The Guide and the background document are available on the CEN website free of charge boss.cen.eu.
