Study “Chemical requirements for consumer products”

Complementing the study “Chemical requirements for consumer products” (see below) a further piece of research was commissioned by the Consumer Council. It investigates a number of further product laws concerning the coverage of chemical risks in the following areas: gaseous fuels appliances; pyrotechnic articles; electrical equipment designed for use within certain voltage limits; radio and telecommunications terminal equipment; medical devices; packaging and packaging waste; materials and articles intended to come into contact with food; simple pressure vessels; recreational craft as well as motor vehicles and trailers. The study confirms the conclusions of the previous research project - that the current European legal framework regarding chemicals in products is insufficient to ensure a high level of safety to consumers and the environment.
