Study "Chemical requirements for toys"
Consumer organisations have judged the chemical requirements of the revised Toy Safety Directive (2009/48/EC) as inadequate. In a study commissioned by the Consumer Council an alternative is presented. It calls for a strengthening of existing limits as well as for the coverage of a number of other substances.
The study discusses requirements for SVHC, elements, sensitising substances, flame retardants, colourants, monomers, solvents, nitrosamines and nitrosatable substances, other substances and nanomaterials. The possible use of regulatory provisions for materials in contact with food was also investigated. This study is available as PDF-file.
